First Opeth, now Mastodon...

You’ll remember not too long ago, Opeth released the bizarre artwork for their new studio album, Heritage, which struck up some debate regarding its silliness, artistic value and several connotations. Now Mastodon have released the artwork for their next album, The Hunter, the follow-up to 2009’s widely adored Crack The Skye. Have a gander below:

Obviously, a drastic departure from the similar style that has adorned Mastodon sleeves in the past. The logo has been abandoned and in its stead is a new logo accompanied by what appears to be some kind of bull hybrid crafted with Lego. The cover was created by AJ Fosik and is Mastodon’s first album cover not created by long-time collaborator Paul Romano.
