This weekend
just gone by was the third annual Dublin Doom Day, which meant plenty of
activities were going down over the whole weekend and it was all a roaring
success. Firstly, on Thursday night former Warning and current 40 Watt Sun
mainman Patrick Walker played a very, very intimate show in the small confines
of the basement in Into The Void Records. It was a beautiful, very sombre show
from the man responsible for arguably one of the most gripping doom metal
albums of all time – Watching From A Distance.
The
following night, things really got rolling with the Doom Day Warm-Up, headlined
by Hell who, simply put, levelled the venue with a show heaving with bombast
and theatrics. Then on Saturday was the main event. The highlights of Dublin
Doom Day: Chapter 3 were hands down: Alcest, Atlantean Kodex, Isole and
Autumnal. You’ll need to keep an eye out for a future issue of Molten Magazine
for a full review of both Doom Day and Warm-Up, but to sum it all up in one
sentence – if you weren’t there, you missed out!
